3 Things You Must Know When Selling Your Vancouver Home

Share

Staging your home is one way to make sure that your home sells quickly and for more money. Here are three things every house needs in terms of home staging.

1. Declutter and Depersonalize

Your potential buyers do not want to walk into your house and see your things. Instead, they want to walk into your house and see themselves living there. This is impossible to do if your things are everywhere.

This is why it is important to declutter and depersonalize. Some things you can do are:

• Limit the number of knick knacks you have on shelves and surfaces
• Eliminate piles (paper, books, magazines, etc)
• Remove personal photos

The more generic the room is, the easier it will be to sell.

2. Pre-Packing

Another thing you can do is start to eliminate the “stuff” you have inside your home. Go ahead and pre-pack items you store for another season. Look in your closets, cupboards, shelves, basement, attic, and garage. If you aren’t going to use it during the period of time the house is for sale, then you should box it up and store it away.

Hint: Banana boxes make great packing boxes. They are a great size and have lids.

3. Deep Clean

I recommend that you hire a professional to deep clean your home. If you choose to do it yourself, be sure to think of all the little things that might need to be done. Some include things like:

• Windows, inside and out
• Blinds
• Shelves
• Baseboards
• Floors
• Bathroom fixtures
• Kitchen appliances
• And more

In addition to these three ideas, I can give you several others that are specific to your home. I’ll walk through and point out things to do that will make your house stand out from the crowd. This pre-listing work can take time, from 2 weeks to 2 months, but it is worth it in the end. Call me today, and I’ll show you how to sell your home for top dollar.
